  Quaint place, historic building. The outer area is nice to sit in and the lunch special pie was delicious but the tables weren't cleared and had piles of dirty plates and glasses stacked on top of them because patrons didn't know if staff would collect them or if they had to return the dishes to the kitchen themselves.

  We really enjoy occasioning this place and love its charm and meal value. Would give it a 5 star, but the management lets this place down drastically. Being a cool winter night we asked for a pre-set fire to be lite and the manager seemed upset due to a lack of patronage, us accounting for 50% of the nights average. Opting to play a 20 cent pool table while waiting for the meal, we had to listen to the manager complaining to bar patrons about us asking for the fire to be lite then playing pool instead of sitting in front of an unlite fire. Our apologies to the management for causing you enough distress and obvious major disruption to budgeting for 2 pieces of firewood. We understand that it would've only benefited providing ambience to a handful of people that night. That coupled with the surly bar lady that seemed less than impressed they had to serve us, really lets down great kitchen staff, meals and history of the place. Hopefully these two people have to deal with less patrons in the future.

  Best pies in NSW. Every time I try gourmet, premium pies at other establishments. I always compare to the Ivanhoe. quite frankly nothing comes close to these pies. if you want the best pie and value for money you must stop here and try these pies.

  Love the atmosphere here. Lovely people, warm fire places. Great for a drink after the beautiful walks here in Blackheath. Always a friendly face!

  Possibly the worst schnitzel in Australia. If I could have tolerated an extra second of the wet ashtray smell of the inside of this venue, I would have gone and asked for a refund.
